THE RESIDENCY

Denniston Hill offers a space for artists to pause, reflect, and create in a setting where care is woven into every part of the experience. Situated on 220 acres of farmland, wetlands, and protected forest in what is now called the southern Catskill Mountains of New York, our residency invites artists into a collaborative relationship with the land and with one another.

Each year, we welcome a group of artists and thinkers whose practices are rooted in inquiry, experimentation, and transformation. Our residency is designed to support this work with time, space, and intention. Residents receive room and board, private studios, access to a woodshop and community garden, travel support, and a modest stipend. But the true offering is the atmosphere: a slower rhythm, a shared table, and an environment where the creative process can unfold with depth and care.

Our community centers queer artists and artists of color, creating a space where lived experience is not an afterthought but a source of knowledge, perspective, and strength. We invite practitioners of all backgrounds who are committed to justice, imagination, and the possibility of new cultural futures.

Denniston Hill is not only a place to work. It is a place to listen, to experiment, and to be in community with others who believe in the transformative power of art and ideas.
